History of our Building
Horse Livery for The White Swan Hotel
Our building’s original purpose was a horse livery for travelers staying at The White Swan Hotel. The hotel was a major business in Greenwich during the late 1920s. Unfortunately the three story hotel was lost to a fire in 1971 and a small brick bank was built on the site.
Pettey’s Garage
Before the fire—as transportation changed from horse drawn stagecoaches to automobiles—the building was converted to Pettey’s Garage. Locals and travelers could have their cars serviced where horses once stayed.
Shoppes
Today we are honored to preserve this iconic building in the heart of the Greenwich Historic District as a destination for locals and tourists to enjoy. You are invited to dine, shop, and take a moment for self-care in this little piece of history.
